About the Kitchen Manager Role
Looking for a new job opportunity in the craft beer industry? We're hiring a full-time Kitchen Manager to join our rad taproom team.
We're looking for an experienced cook/chef to take the reins of our kitchen. Someone with kitchen management experience would be preferred and must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates.
Salary: $20/hour
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Assure that all kitchen and menu changes are clearly communicated to all kitchen staff and taproom team.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure that all staff members understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient use of resources.
- Menu Planning and Development:
- Collaborate with Taproom Manager and Marketing Team to create menus dedicated to special events
- Collaborate with the Taproom Manager and Brewery Leadership to develop seasonal menu changes.
- Monitor food trends and customer preferences to update menus accordingly.
- Innovate and present menu features to Management on a monthly basis.
- Food Preparation and Quality Control:
- Monitor food inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality and fresh ingredients.
- Supervise food preparation to ensure that meals and food prep are prepared according to established recipes and standards.
- Track and report food waste to Taproom Manager.
- Create and uphold a detailed inventory system.
- Conduct regular quality control checks to maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
- Kitchen Safety and Sanitation:
- Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning protocols are followed by kitchen staff.
- Implement and enforce proper food safety protocols and sanitation standards.
- Train Kitchen & Taproom staff on safe food handling practices and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including equipment and workstations.
- Create and regularly update kitchen cleaning lists that uphold the brewery standard.
- Staff Training and Development
- Conduct menu training for both Kitchen and Taproom staff
- Develop menu and allergy guides that are easily accessible for staff reference.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and collaboration.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff members to support their professional growth.
- Budgeting and Cost Control
- Manage kitchen expenses within budgetary constraints, including food costs, labor costs, and overhead expenses.
- Create and regularly update menu food costing guide to ensure profitable margins.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising food quality or service standards.
- Analyze financial reports and performance metrics to track progress and make informed decisions
- Customer Service and Satisfaction
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving
- Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and delivery personnel to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and supplies
- Maintain open lines of communication with kitchen staff, management, and other departments.
- Compliance and Regulations
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Alberta Health Services regulations and all pertinent Alberta labor regulations.
